Building the nation and later the State of Texas required the talents, efforts and determination of many people from diverse lands.

Many people from around the globe were attracted to Texas by its rich natural resources. But most of all it was a land which offered opportunity. Texas was a land where they could reap monetary rewards and have a new freedom to benefit from their trades.

They came and applied their skills to the needs of the growing, dynamic land.

Italians building railroads and mining coal, German cabinet and furniture makers and the masses from every corner of the earth working with the rich soil and favorable climate to produce bountiful crops beyond their wildest dreams.

To be highlighted in the coming weeks many of these nationalities who poured their hearts, souls and even their lives into developing the land we proudly call Texas.
